Spread over 968sq km of an area, Bardia National Park is the largest National Park in Terai region. Previously, the area was used for hunting sports by Nepalese Royal Family which was later announced as National Park back in 1988. Bardia National Park not only includes Babai River Valley but its boundary is extended up to the eastern shore of Karnali River which is perfect for Dolphin viewing. The northern boundary of Bardia National Park is safeguarded by Churia Hills and Geruwa River secures the western border while there exists Nepalgunj Surkhet Highway to the south.
Bardia Jungle Safari takes us to the core of dense sal forest where we can observe many rare and endangered species of floras and faunas. Participating in Bardia National Park tour allows us to witness more than 30 species of mammals including langur monkey, civets, rhesus monkeys, sloth bears, deer, wild boars, one horned rhinoceros, wild elephant and blue sheep.Amphibians like Gharial and Marsh Mugger crocodiles can be viewed in Babai River while Karnali River is rich in Gangetic dolphins. After you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will go through custom and visa formalities. As you exit from the Arrival Hall, you will find our representative waiting for you with placard in his hand. Look for your name in a placard. After receiving you, he will transfer you to the three-star category hotel. Get refreshed. Later, you will get briefing regarding the trip. Explore the surroundings. Have a comfortable stay.
After breakfast, you will join for guided Kathmandu City Tour. Out of 10 UNESCO cultural sites in Nepal, 4 of them exist in Kathmandu alone making it the historical city. We will start the tour by visiting Pashupatinath Complex which is the most significant Hindu Temple in Nepal. Non- Hindus are not allowed an access in the main temple premises but you can still observe cremation ceremony at the bank of Bagmati River. You will also visit Bouddhanath which was listed in world heritage site in 1979 A.D. This is also known as mini Tibet in Kathmandu. Next stop will be at Swoyambhunath which is the oldest Buddhist Stupa located at the top of the hill. Swoyambhunath is the oldest stupa that dates 2500 years back. Drive further to Kathmandu Durbar Square- the ancient Royal Palace. Hanumandhoka Museum, Kasthamandap Temple, KalBhairav Statue and House of Living Goddess are places of interest. Return to hotel for comfortable stay. In the afternoon, you can shop for any trekking equipment that you require.
After breakfast, we will drive to Tribhuvan Airport, domestic terminal and take 50minutes of Kathmandu Nepalgunj flight to Nepalgunj Airport. Located near to Nepal- India border, this is one of the major trade city of Western Nepal. From Nepalgunj airport, we will drive for 2 hours. After driving for 90km, we will reach Bardia National Park. Stay overnight at the lodge.
Most of the National Park area is covered with sal forest. Remember to stay close to your jungle guide and do not ever walk alone in the jungle. The jungle is thriving with wild beasts like hog deer, black buck, hyena, one-horned rhinoceros and other. We can visit nearby Tharu community in the evening for observing cultural show.
We will wake up early in the morning and take breakfast before going for elephant riding in Bardia National Park. Elephant riding gives better views of wildlife as we will have benefit of height. We will also visit Visitor Center. Next stop will be at Crocodile Breeding Center. We will also visit Tharu Cultural Museum. After lunch, we will take jungle walk and return to lodge for dinner.
After wakeup call, we will visit Karnali River. This is the perfect place to witness dolphins. After taking lunch, we will drive to Nepalgunj Airport from where we will board a flight back to Kathmandu. You will be transferred to the hotel.
