Mardi Himal Trek

A relatively new route, Mardi Himal Trek provides a great alternative to Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. Mardi Himal is located in the eastern section of Annapurna Himalayan Range. The glory of the Mardi Himal area is overshadowed by commercial Poon hill and Annapurna Base Camp trekking routes which is why the Mardi Himal area is least visited. Mardi Himal Trek is a perfect cultural trek in the Annapurna region. The local Gurung ethnics have been able to preserve their primitive culture and traditions. The route continues through blooming rhododendron forest and offers impeccable views of Mardi, Fishtail, Annapurna, Hiunchuli and other peaks and mountains.

Manikang Nepal Treks and Adventure operates 11-days Mardi Himal Trek itinerary. The trail continues through local villages providing you with ample opportunity to interact with locals. Mardi Himal trekking can be joined by people of normal physical fitness as no previous trekking experience is required. Thus, this is the perfect family trekking package in Annapurna. After enjoying Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour, we will drive to Pokhara. Trekking for Mardi Himal begins from Kande. The trail continues through the forest area that is perfect for bird watching. We will hike up to Upper View Point for close-up views of mountains and follow a different route through the famous Gurung village of Landruk. Trek ends at Nayapul from where we will drive back to Kathmandu via Pokhara. Accommodation is available in lodges and teahouse.

The best choice we have made

"Hello! We are a couple from Barcelona, we have returned three months ago from a trek in Mardi Himal with Manikang Nepal, Passan as our guide and Keshab as our porter. Before arriving in Kathmandu, we already had established our route with Passan via email, he resolved all our doubts, and he advised us on our itinerary. When we arrived in Kathmandu, he came to pick us up to take us to our hotel, he had to wait more than two hours at the airport and even then he greeted us with a smile and took us to dinner! The next day, punctual, we had waiting for us Keshab, Passan and a private car with an experienced driver to move us to Pokhara. I have to say that the car was one of the best we saw on the road to Pokhara. The trek was perfectly organized, if we had to improvise due to inclement weather they solved it without problem. I even had a problem with salute, nothing serious, but I did not have the right medication, and Passan contacted a pharmacy to get us, on horseback, the medicine I needed, because we were in remote village of the trek. We arrived at the Mardi Himal View Point without any mishap, the Tea Houses always reserved in advance, the meals always ready, and our team always ready to help us with everything, even to take away the leeches that were tricked us along the way! I must say that luckily Keshab and Pasan took away the three that I had together in my pants, I could only scream!!! We arrived in Pokhara by private car, and the next day there was a vague Maoist in Kathmandu. Passan warned us and advised us to stay one more day in Pokhara for our safety, he was contacting us to make sure everything was fine. When we finally arrived in Kathmandu, he took us to dinner at a typical Nepalese restaurant to say goodbye. We are very grateful to Passan and the Superman of Keshab (he is really strong and charming!), for their support in our trip, his concern for our safety, and his professionalism. Also for the good times we spent together drinking a beer and playing cards when we finished the trek. People like them are worth winning in their business and that this is prosperous. If Manikang Nepal, Pasan and Keshab read this post, I want to send a huge hug to both of you, I hope to see you in the future.
