Rolwaling Trek explores the Rolwaling valley between the Langtang Himal to the west and Everest Himalayas to the east. The trek takes you to on a journey to the Tibetan-influenced villages close to the Tibetan border. With the company of glaciers like Trakarding and Parchemuche, the trek culminates at the Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755m). The 18-day trek begins upon your arrival in Kathmandu. The trek moves 200km east of Kathmandu to Gonggar Khola via Dolakha. The trek begins at Gonggar Khola and gradually advances through the discreet Rolwaling valley. You’ll pass through large gorges, massive glaciers, high mountain passes, and numerous ethnic villages en route namely Simigaon, Daldung La, Beding, Na, and Ramdung Go (5,930 m) before crossing the Yalung Glacier. Yalung is one of the sources of the mighty Arun and Koshi Rivers. The trail advances to the high glacial Tsho Rolpa Lake (4,540m) before crossing the Trakarding Glacier (4,800 m). You’ll move east and cross Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755 m) to arrive at Khumbu valley. The Tashi Lapcha Pass offers the captivating sights of the Mount Everest (8,848 m), Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), and Gaurishankar Himal (7,134 m). The serene mountains of Rolwaling valley are popular for the folktales of the Yeti, an abominable snowman. The locals believe that the creature still wanders in the high mountains of the region. The latter part of the trek takes you directly into the Sagarmatha National Park. The trail connects to the popular Everest trail and heads directly down to Lukla via Thame, Namche Bazaar, and Monjo village. The trip concedes upon your return to Kathmandu from Lukla.
